The Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC) regretfully announces that, due to doctor’s orders, Sonny Rollins must cancel his performance on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 8:00 pm. We unfortunately are unable to reschedule this concert this season.
In the improvisatory spirit of jazz, however, the VPAC is pleased to offer on that same evening an all-star ensemble recognizing the landmark Miles Davis Sextet 1959 recording of Kind of Blue. Legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb, the only musician alive who played on the original recording, will be joined by Christian Scott, trumpet; Vincent Herring, alto saxophone; Dave Liebman, tenor saxophone; Larry Willis, piano; and Buster Williams, bass, in a musical celebration inspired by that critical moment in jazz history.
To attend this April 20th Kind of Blue performance featuring Jimmy Cobb’s So What Band, you need do nothing more than join us at the VPAC on that evening and bring your ticket originally issued for the Sonny Rollins performance. That ticket will be your entry to this substitute performance.
If you have questions or concerns, or wish to request a refund, please call the Ticket Office directly at (818) 677-3000. We sincerely apologize for this unanticipated cancellation and look forward to seeing you on Saturday, April 20 at 8:00 pm for Kind of Blue!
