In 1975, when Emmylou Harris recorded her first major label solo album, Pieces of the Sky, after the death of her singing partner Gram Parsons, she chose a song by a virtually unknown songwriter to open the album. That songwriter was Rodney Crowell, who Harris also recruited to be a guitarist and harmony singer in her backup group The Hot Band. Since that time, although they have gone their own ways professionally with great success — both are Grammy Award-winners — they have remained good friends. That 40-year friendship has brought them full-circle to record their debut project, the recently released Old Yellow Moon. This performance brings on stage two great artists whose contribution to American music continues to inspire musicians and fans worldwide.
"This dreamy duet concept ... succeeds as much on the strength of the material as it does the blending of her assertive pipes with his sweeter, more malleable ones." —USA Today
