The Sachal Ensemble Song of Lahore

Faced with persecution after Sharia law was instituted in Pakistan in 1977, music producer Izzat Majeed convened a devoted group of Lahore musicians to rehearse and record privately. Fueled by a love of American jazz, the ensemble merges Eastern and Western music, crafting a sound that transcends war and oppression. Musician Nijat Ali says, “God willing, this will help the entire world see that Pakistanis are artists, not terrorists.”

Onstage Session: Jazz
This season we’re introducing a new experience, transforming our stage into a New York-style jazz club and putting you right in the middle of the action. Enjoy a drink at a prime table, or wander through the crowd to mingle with friends as you enjoy jazz’s most fearless artists in an intimate experience, combining close proximity with high octane performances.
