VPAC 2017-18 Season


A Few Words from our Executive Director, Thor Steingraber

2017-18 Main BrochureThis season, more than any previous one, VPAC brings to Los Angeles artists from around the globe, artists who stand as proof that by shining a bright light on our differences, we affirm how much we have in common. Our new series, Music Knows No Borders, celebrates Cuba, Spain, Iraq, Mexico, Pakistan, and points beyond.

VPAC’s orchestra and chamber series, Soaring, includes a number of 20th century masterpieces by composers who immigrated to the United States to escape unrest in their motherlands. Our jazz series, Swinging, features several American artists who have undertaken an exploration of social justice issues closer to home. And Kathleen Battle, who has stood at the pinnacle of vocal artistry for twenty-five years, brings her new gospel-inspired concert, The Underground Railroad, from Lincoln Center to VPAC.
